Duties and Responsibilities
The post-holder will be part of a research team studying the molecular/cellular aspects of synapse modification and its role in the pathogenesis of depressive illness.
Our work uses an invertebrate model to elucidate the mechanism(s) underlying interneurone inhibitory synapse formation. In particular, we are interested in the role played by membrane-bound receptor-ligand proteins in this process. The researcher will help in the development of techniques and approaches to address these questions.
The post is funded for 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Key Requirements
The successful applicant must have or be in the process of obtaining a PhD in a relevant subject area (molecular/cell biology, neurobiology, neuroscience).
The applicant must have experience with general molecular and cell biology techniques. Experience with fluorescence labeling and imaging techniques or electrophysiology would be useful.
